The battle was coming to an end. Both contenders were covered in marks, bruises, and blood. And the sky was continuing to darken with rain clouds.
Ari just wanted her brother back. She wanted him to come home so everything would be alright. But she knew there was no turning back after he murdered the Konoha guards. The man that stood before Ari was no longer her brother.
Another sword slash cut across her arm and dug into her pale skin. Yelping in pain, Ari jumped back and dashed to the other side of the field to land a roundhouse kick to the chest of her enemy knocking him to the ground.
Taking in a few breaths of air, Ari stood there staring at her brother staggered before slowly getting to his feet. She saw a menacing grin playing on his lips.
"So, it has seemed that you have gotten stroger after all." Her brother smirked as he wiped blood trickling down his mouth.
"Please, Jin," Ari pleaded with tears threatening to pour. "I hate this. I-"
"If you hate it so much, prove it!" Jin taunted. "Come at me and prove that. Porve that by killing me."
The words rang in her head. A tear single tear was wiped away as she pulled out a kunai.
"There's no way you're taking those words back." The ground suddenly shook as lightning striked the earth.
Kaji studied the sky as he heard thunder in the distance. he had to hurry and fid Ari before it was too late.
"Are we almost there?" He asked Pakun once more. The pug like creature continued to run and sniff the air at the same time before answering the boy.
"Nearly. The scent of the rain is making it a bit difficult to track them down." If he didn't know any better, this day was almost similar to Pakun when he and Kakashi tried to stop Sasuke and Naruto that fateful day some fifteen years ago. Pakun just prayed that it wouldn't happen again.
"You okay?" Kaji questioned as he noticed the elder dog's slowing pace. Pakun chuckled for a moment.
"I'm fine. I'm just not as young as I used to be."
The boy and the dog continued to run across the forest for a good few minuetes, until Pakun stated, "I found them!"
Before Kaji could ask where Pakun answered his thoughts. "They're in the clearing."
Thunder suddenly crased and cold rain started to pour.
"This can't be..." Pakun said gravly. Kaji had a questioned look upon his face. But something already wasn't right to him.
"One is dead, and the other is balrly trying to stay alive. I can't tell which one, what with the same speacial chakra Jin and Ari have."
Kaji's heart lurched in fear. If Jin was the one alive there was no way he was going to get away with it. But Ari wouldn't want that. She loved her brother dearly.
He had to find out who was alive and quickly.
It was an illusion. The dead body sprawled on the ground infront of her wasn't Jin.
Ari's head continued to spin as wounds gashed out more blood. Jin had found away to escape the battle sometime ago. But she knew it was right before she killed his clone. He escaped in criticle condition.
Her feet gave in. Ari fell to her knee's as she gasped in a few shallow breaths. It was only a mater of time before she would---
"Ari!"
Looking up, Kaji hovered above her in the cold rain, his face twisted in a mask of pain. "Are you okay?" he asked.
She couldn't find any words to speak. The rain continued to pour as she stared up at him.
"Ari?" Kaji questioned, his voice full of concern. He knelt down to eye level with her so it would be easier. He noticed that her eyes were red and swolen. Had Ari cried during the battle?
A rush of emotion suddenly hit Ari. Tears poured like a small waterfall. Kaji became aware and startled.
"I...couldn't save him. I was too late...." She croaked.
Kaji reached out to her as she cried heartbroken sobs. He couldn't let her be in this kind of pain forever. Some how, Ari found herself wrapped in Kaiji's arms as he used the healing jutsu to mend her wounds. They sat under a large tree covering them up from the rain.
"Are you feeling better?" he asked, continuing to fix her wounds.
Ari nodded. Less tears were falling now. She was drifting into darkness and her eyelids were heavy. Kaji pulled her in close as she drifted into a deep slumber.
The sky continued to darken, and the rain kept falling. Kaji knew they weren't going anywhere anytime soon.
From a close distance, Pakun watched from above a tree with a tired look upon his face. A figure suddenly jumped from the shadow's and landed beside him yet he, Pakun, didn't even flinch.
"The mission was unsucsesful?" Kakashi asked. The old sensei noticed how pakun let out a mournful sigh.
"Correct. Jin had escaped before Ari could land the final blow. I can't tell where the rouge ninja will go. But for some odd reason, I have a feeling he will return."
Kakashi nodded as he too watched the young ninja carefully heal his good friend.
Thunder rumbled softly in the distance. "We were too late. Just like last time..."
